With a master’s in science teaching, I have taught Biology for 36 years and have taught IB Biology HL for 27 years. Recently retired, I hope to continue connecting with students and sharing my love of Biology. Many of my students continue their study of Biology in college and major in it. Former students have moved on to earn their PhD’s, become practicing physicians or health care workers, bioethicists and Biology teachers.
I have been an IB examiner grading tests, Internal assessments and extended essays for over 15 years. I know the IB Biology curriculum and exam format inside and out. My students have done very well; averaging an IB score of 5.
I can help students understand the content for class exams and tailor my tutoring to the student’s needs. I can provide guidance for the Biology Internal assessment and Extended Essay as I am very familiar with the IB grading criteria for each assessment. I am familiar with the AP Biology curriculum, required labs and exam format and have attended several AP workshops. I am happy to prepare your student for AP, IB, and Subject SAT exams, as well as critique Biology IAs and Extended essays. I will be happy to share test taking techniques and strategies for these exams.
I have mentored hundreds of students who have medaled in local, state and national science competitions such as the International Science & Engineering Fairs and the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. I can provide encouragement and guidance through the scientific process.
